Nikhil Kapoor, third year Product Design student of DSK International Campus has won the first prize for his outstanding design. He designed and built two prototypes which are now a part of the Award Exhibition at Taipei Cycle show which is one of the biggest professional trade shows in the cycle industry. Apart from this, Nikhil has also won an enormous prize money of Rs. 7,15,000 (NT$ 350.000)
About IBDC:
International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC) 2014, took place for the 18th time this year. It was organised by the prestigious IF Design Award. This year IBDC saw submission of 497 design concepts, 333 entries from 42 countries were judged and 22 entries were finally selected as winners. The competition calls for innovative, visionary concepts that make cycling even more comfortable, safer, more challenging, more enjoyable or simply more popular.
Speaking on the extraordinary and outstanding design presented by Nikhil, judges highlighted, "illume is a nice integration of accessories. It's a renewable energy resource which is also very friendly to the environment. The innovative combination of design language & shape with a new way of surface function is very impressive. The split of surface in "color fields" give the vehicle an iconic look."
