Online business always fascinates people and there are two main reasons behind it. Firstly, it provides an easy access to the entire world's market and secondly, it is less time consuming. Earlier, if any person wanted to start a business, he or she needed to think twice as it had a lot of risk involved. But now, the online business has changed the entire scenario - from pen to plane tickets, everything is available online.
This business has removed the age barrier where even a student could have his online business website which could fetch him a handsome amount of money. Walking on the same path, 15 year old Shekhar Chatterjee, known as the Youngest CEO of online business, has shown the world the amount of talent and skills he has.
Currently, Shekhar owns four web portals - Host Dude Solutions (for Web Services), Web Grafia Technologies (for Graphic Designing), ZoloTech (for Andriod and Windows App Development), Overseas Innovations (for Softwares).
While talking to Oneindia Education, Shekhar Chatterjee reveals his thoughts and ideas that motivated him to get into the web world, and about managing passion, education and other learning experiences.
1. What were your significant learning experiences during your initial days with Host Dude Solutions? Give us a brief idea about your other projects/ventures.
Well, there is a lot to learn from practical life experiences. Apart from learning theories from books, you come across clients of different natures. While some may be humble and good enough to deal with, others may try to cheat you. When I started my business, I thought it would be very easy for me. As time passed by, I found very difficult to establish my identity. I was even cheated twice, but I did not lose hope. My family, especially my sister, supported me a lot. I started opening new ventures and took up new services to broaden my product catalogue, but even that did not garner any results. But I was determined to establish my business, so I continued to fight for it. Finally, all that effort has become fruitful and I am happy to be recognized today for my work.
2. What was your greatest motivation to get into web-designing? And what is the unique scope of your services as against your competitors in the world?
When you have colours in your hand, you gradually develop a broad imagination to paint. Similarly, web designing is something from this new era which enables you to paint your imagination online. It's a broad category which includes your personal blog, portals, directory, B2B, and company's portals. I first started developing websites by using Notepad when I was 8 years old, by referring textbooks of Class 12th. This helped me understand that the new era is evolving completely to include a virtual world and gave me the realization that I could help people by providing services which are useful to them.
I have great faith and confidence in the services I provide. I believe that they are the best in the market, and my motto is customer's satisfaction. I am proud to say that anyone who has once become our client, remains our client forever.
3. Digital education is the prospective glimpse of future education for all learners - comment.
We all are environment friendly but at the same time we want instant services. Digital Education has helped us a lot. Students are now able to make their projects & presentations online, access information on variety of subjects very easily, get to connect with different portals that help in providing services and materials needed by students as well as help in keeping us updated on happenings around the world. Education system in India is evolving rapidly in the past few years. JEE or Joint Entrance Examinations and Admission Tests are now been conducted online. Also, it is kind of obvious to keep the needs of protecting the environment and also promote convenient, cheaper, and faster digital services as and when ever required. Therefore, I agree that Digital Education is the prospective glimpse of future education for all learners.
4. With the increasing pressure and expectations associated with your business, education and family, how do you manage to balance your passion, studies, and other interests in the available time frame?
I believe in a quote ‘Time is enough for those who aspire for successes'. We are all gifted with same 24 hours but we see some people failing while others succeeding. I have managed to devote a part of time to my business. I started this venture because it was my passion but not my necessity, so it was easy for me to manage time. During free time, I used to develop my business, but at the time of exams I focused on my studies. When my exams were over, I would again focus back on my business rather playing computer games and outdoor games. I scored well in my exams as well and made my parents proud of me. Since there was no force or pressure from my family, it became an easy pathway to manage my passion, studies, and family within a limited time frame.
5. As an entrepreneur, what are your views on present education system in India; and how would you like to bring about a change for the betterment of all learners in the country for the future.
Education is not good enough in our country as we believe in theoretical knowledge but not of practical skills. The youngsters in our country have degrees but no experience; we have definitions but no explanations. We are made to learn the subjects made by great people but not encouraged to produce anything new ourselves. To improve the scenario, we must promote practical learning side by side with the theoretical syllabi.
6. Would you like to share some valuable tips for the upcoming talents in India who are aspiring to get into newer ventures like you?
A simple valuable tip for upcoming entrepreneurs is that ‘Never lose your passion and hope because these are keys for door to success'; and remember "Passion is the drunkenness of mind which provides the energy on the path to success." Obstacles may definitely come in your path to test your determination but if you can keep your spirit alive, you shall definitely succeed one day.
