Need to upgrade university curriculum: UPSC

Itanagar: The curriculum of universities in the country needs to be updated regularly, UPSC Chairman D P Agrawal has said, noting that they have not been revised for more than a decade.

Pointing out that the curriculum in many universities have not been revised in a decade or two, Agrawal said these should be fine tuned with the changing times.

He said this during an interaction here with eminent intellectuals, educationists and senior citizens. Agrawal advocated "vocationalisation" of the education system to enhance skills of individuals to enable them earn their livelihood, an official quoting him said.

Agrawal asked authorities in Arunachal Pradesh to ensure optimum utilisation of resources to provide quality education.

He expressed concern that "pro-active role is missing" in the North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology and Rajiv Gandhi University in the state.

"Imparting quality education is the biggest challenge before us today. We must focus and stress on nurturing and developing future faculties for a better Arunachal and India," he said.
