Need to improve education system

New Delhi, August 14: India needs to improve its education system, knowledge creation and business sophistication, Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said Wednesday.

"India is the top-ranking country in communications, computer and information services export. India also leads on innovation amongst the countries from central and southern Asia region.

India needs to improve on its education system, knowledge creation and business sophistication," Minister of State for Science and Technology (independent charge) Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The minister's reaction came after the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2014 Report showed India has dropped 10 places to 76th in 2013. GII measures national innovation performance based on a set of variables related to both innovation input and output.

"The innovation input index is a function of institutions, human capital and research output index considers knowledge and technology outputs. GII is calculated on above indices, may not be conclusive for comparing annual positions of any country," he added.
