MOP Vaishnav College seminar on 'Opportunities in Media'

MOP Vaishnav College organises a seminar

The post-graduate students of the School of Communication and Media Studies from MOP Vaishnav College for Women had conducted a media seminar at Mount Carmel College, on the topic 'Opportunities and challenges in the Field of Media' on January 28, 2014. The seminar featured prominent speakers from the media industry who shared their rich and valued experiences with delegates from over ten colleges from across the city.

The seminar focused on the trends and opportunities in the field of Advertising, Public Relations and Journalism. The three key speakers were Radhika Iyer, Chief Correspondent of NDTV 24X7 (South India), Ajay Gupta of Circuit 9 Communications and Rajalakshmi Azariah of Avian Media. The first session was by Radhika Iyer who addressed students on the trends and opportunities in Journalism. She emphasised on the importance of work life balance and shared her valued inputs on how to cope up with the challenges that may arise while on the job.


The session on Advertising was by Ajay Gupta, founder and director of Circuit9 communications. He touched upon the current opportunities and scope the field of advertising has. The seminar concluded with a session on public relations by Rajalakshmi Azariah who spoke on the effectiveness and the importance of Public relations through case studies.

About Outlook - ‘Media Matters'

As a visionary in the field of education, M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai, was quick to understand the demand potential of a fast growing media and entertainment industry. As an academic exercise, the postgraduate students of Communication and Media Studies undertake a project to conduct media seminars in prominent cities of the country.

More than twenty five 'Outlook, Media Mattes' seminars have been successfully conducted in the past four years across different cities, including Calcutta, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Cochin, Coimbatore, Pondicherry, Trichi and Thiruvananthapuram. Top media personalities from the newspaper houses, television stations and radio channels had been the key speakers and more than a thousand students have benefited from the previously held seminars. This year, Outlook 2014, Media Matters is being conducted across 6 cities, Cochin, Coimbatore, Trichi, Trivandrum, Chennai and Bangalore.
