New York, March 26: Veteran actor Martin Sheen is heading home to his native Dayton, Ohio this spring to pick up an honorary degree in recognition of his social and political activism.
The "Apocalypse Now" star grew up near the University of Dayton as a kid, but he never attended the college because he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career, reported the New York Post.
However, he will now return to the city for the school's graduation ceremony on May 3, when he will be made an honorary doctor of humane letters. The degree will be the 74-year-old's latest educational award - he was previously made a Doctor of Letters at Marquette University in Wisconsin in 2003, while he also received an honorary life membership in the Law Society of University College Dublin, Ireland in 2011
