New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia university is all set to offer diploma courses in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and Solar Energy from the upcoming year.
The two course, offered under the Scheme of Community Colleges will have 50 seats each. Introduction of these courses will help to generate employment opportunities for youth.
Speaking to TOI Jamia spokesperson Mukesh Ranjan said " The proposal to introduce these course has been approved by the UGC and released Rs 90 lakhs for the Bachelor Vocational in Solar Energy while Rs 61.56 lakhs for Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning for a period of two years,".
"The financial grants will be utilised to set up labs, workshops, classrooms and procurement of teaching material, machinery, equipment besides other recurring expenses," he added
"The details for admissions and other modalities on implementation of course are being worked out by the university," said Rajan
The programme targets senior secondary school pass-outs, who aspire to enter the workforce and has training and education programmes. The objective of the scheme is to provide certification of acquired skills of learners irrespective of their age.
