IITs to teach entrepreneurship along with B.Tech

Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in Delhi, Kharagpur and Hyderabad are planning to add a course on entrepreneurship in their curriculum.

IIT alumnus have a history of hugely successful start-ups in India like Snapdeal, Flipkart amd Myntra. This has lead the IITs to introduce a course on entrepreneurship to help guide budding entrepreneurs who wish to start their own businesses. This is being taught by actual entrepreneurs which makes the experience more practical and make the students more aware of both the gains and the risks involved..

There is a lot of interest being shown in this course in the IITs. IIT Madras even has a fund to support entrepreneurs and start-ups. IIT, Gandhinagr also firmly believes that, adding such a course in the B.Tech curriculum would increase the value of the degree. Many IITs like IITK, meanwhile, already has a course on engineering entrepreneurship at the institute.

The IITs which plan to include entrepreneurship course from the next academic year are IITs Madras, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Kanpur, Patna and Mandi.
