Kolkata, August 6, 2015: Internship offers at the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur IIT-KgP, have gone up by 50 percent this season, a statement said on Wednesday.
"The Institute experienced year-on-year increase of 33 percent in the number of companies visiting campus and 50 percent growth in the number of offers being extended respectively," the statement issued by IIT-Kharagpur said.
Top global brands such as Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Microsoft, Facebook, Texas Instruments and Nomura, alongside FMCG giants ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser, visited the campus with the start of the 2015-2016 internship season on Aug 1.
A total of 72 internship offers were extended on the first day of the season itself.
With an expected increase of 100 percent in the number of pre-placement offers (PPOs) from last year, IIT Kharagpur is looking forward to superior placement statistics in 2015.
"The trend for opportunities at IIT-Kharagpur is increasing every year. With the increasing number of PPOs we believe that companies really like the talent that IIT-Kharagpur is offering," said S.K. Barai, Chairman, Career Development Centre, IIT-Kharagpur.
