IIT JEE Main 2016 Online Exams on April 9 & 10

Nearly 3 lakh students are gearing up to take up IIT JEE Main 2016 entrance exam on April 9 and April 10, 2016. The exam will be held online through computer based mode. The offline examination of the same was held on April 3, 2016. About 10 lakh student took up the offline examinations on April 3, 2016.

 

The number of students registered for JEE Main 2016 has seen a significant decrease from last year's 13.04 lakh, to this year's 12.07 lakh students. The other students who have not taken up the examination yesterday will be appearing for the online examaination that is scheduled to be held on April 9 and 10, 2016.

In a comparison of the number of students taking up the examination shows that Maharashtra has the highest number of test-takers in the country, despite the registrations falling from 2.46 lakh in 2015 to 1.63 lakh this year. Uttar Pradesh stands second with around 1.5 lakh candidates registering for the test.

This is the second year in a row, that JEE (Main) has seen a drop in the numbers of aspirants. JEE Main scores will be considered for admissions into the various centrally funded technological institutions like the NITs and IIITs. It is the tier one exam for IIT admissions too. From this year on, the top two lakh candidates will be shortlisted to appear for JEE Advanced for admissions to IITs.

Till last year, only top 1.5 lakh candidates were shortlisted. Apart from this, the process will remain similar to what it was last year. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will follow a joint admission process for all the CFTIs. Aspirants had a problem initially in downloading the hall tickets three weeks ago, but the problem was resolved by CBSE.
