IIM Kozhikode to host second pan-IIM conference

Kozhikode, October 20: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has been selected to host the second pan-IIM World Management Conference, supported by the Ministry of Human Resources Development and organised by the 13 IIMs in the country. Ranked among the top five institutes in the country, IIM Kozhikode will play host to this prestigious conference, where 250 top experts would take part in the event to be held from Nov 5-8th.

The theme of the conference would be 'Globalizing Indian Thought'. IIM made headlines, last year, when the entire cabinet led by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy attended a day long brain storming session conducted by the faculty here. Kulbhushan Balooni, director, IIM Kozhikode said, IIMs have different functional and sectoral expertise, region specific industry access and clout as well as understanding of local practices. "Collectively IIMs can emerge as a formidable force in exploring newer frontiers of management science. The west is increasingly interested today in decoding the phenomena in emerging markets," said Balooni.

Apart from IIM professors, the conference will also invite experts from Wharton Business School, ESCP Paris, policy makers and leaders from Indian industry, who would share their thoughts on Indian management and how it can impact global business. Saji Gopinath, conference co-chair and dean academic, IIM Kozhikode, said, the world knows that IIMs attract and churn out the best talent. "The time, for IIMs, has come to not only provide talent to the world but also shape future management thinking by producing world-class research," said Gopinath.
