After CBSE announced the postponement of class 10 and 12 exams earlier last week, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Friday announced the revised schedule for ICSE (class 10) and ISC (class 12). The reason for the reschedule of exam is that the exam dates were clashing with the Assembly elections in five states - Punjab, Goa, Manipur, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Now, as per the new schedule, the ISC (theory) exams will begin from March 1, and ICSE exams will begin from March 10. The practical exams for ISC will begin from January 30.
On March 10, English will be the first paper ICSE students will be writing, whereas the ISC students will appear for Physics exam on March 1. The practical exams for ISC students, will commence from January 30 and end on February 8. Based on the subjects chosen by the students, the last exam for ICSE students will be on April 21, and for ISC students, it will be on April 26.
The benefit of this rescheduling of the examinations is that, candidates will now have extra time to study, according to CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon in a press release. He also said that the schedule of entrance examinations for admissions to professional courses has been taken into consideration for the candidates taking the ISC examinations.
The total number of candidates who have registered for the exams in 2017 are 2,50,871 with 1,76,327 of them registered for ICSE and 74,544 of them for the ISC examinations.
