Govt's new education policy to focus on values

Amritsar, Nov 17: A new education policy is being framed in which emphasis will be laid on teaching students moral values as the present system is only producing degree holders, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani.

 

Addressing a function here organised by ABVP, she said the present education system is producing only degree holders while the need of the hour is to have a structure where students are taught moral values as well.

The government will frame a new education policy in which emphasis would be laid on producing good human beings besides educationists, she said in Varanasi, Irani had said the new policy is expected to come out next year.

On this occasion, Irani honoured Arunima Sinha, a former national-level volleyball player who created history by becoming the first Indian amputee to conquer Mount Everest. The Union Minister also announced Sinha as brand ambassador for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Uttar Pradesh.
