Govt bans new admissions in Jodhpur National Univ

Since 2009, the Jodhpur-located University has awarded 38,000 degrees and marksheets to students of which 25,003 were found fake, Education Minister K C Saraf had told state Assembly in April.

Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Pawan Kumar Goyal said the enquiry committee had found that there was gross violation of University Act by the Jodhpur National University leading to the fake degree scam.

To avoid any risk and challenge with the newcomer students, it has been decided by the government to ban any fresh admission in JNU, Goyal said.

Hence, the ban on new admission is effected forthwith for the academic session 2015-16, he added.
