To boost job opportunities in the hill state, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has said the state government was giving job oriented education to students and claimed to have outdone the previous BJP government in the field of education.
Bahuguna said that the government has initiated the process of setting up four engineering colleges, 25 polytechnic institutes, 20 ITIs and 10 degree colleges within two years of his tenure.
Criticising the previous BJP government, the chief minister claimed that even in five years, it could open only two engineering colleges, 12 polytechnic institutes, 15 ITIs and five degree colleges.
Talking to reporters after chairing a review meeting of the higher education and technological education department here, Bahuguna said financial clearance has been given to all the educational institution projects conceived by his government.
15 degree colleges are being identified where state-of-the-art computer and communication facilities will be installed put up, he said.
High quality coaching facilities will be given to meritorious students to prepare them for competitive examinations besides transport facility for girl students of identified degree colleges.
