Funding and scholarships shared the limelight at ISN expo

Funding and scholarships highlighted at ISN expo

This year's International Student Network (ISN) expo, conducted by the American Consulate in Chennai on Friday, highlighted the importance of scholarships.

Around 18 different American universities took part in the expo. A rage of seminars and events on education opportunities in the USA were conducted during the expo.

Some of the most reputed names in the education sector in the US, including Illinois Institute of Technology, The Drexel University and University of San Francisco were present at the expo. About 150 students had enrolled for the event. Furthermore, parents and others were also present at the gathering.

Shanti Mohan, Coordinator of Education USA of the Department of State, Education And Cultural Affairs said, "The highlight of this year's event was the topic of funding, especially merit-based scholarships that the universities were awarding. Students were asked to come with their scores, transcripts, report cards and other details. They were then given details of areas in which funding was available."

Merit-based scholarships ranging between $10,000 USD to full value of the tuition fee for the duration of the study programme were also discussed. US Department of Commerce at the US Consulate in Chennai, supported this event.

Students also attended seminars on higher education in the US which provided students with the knowledge about visa processing, part-time jobs and details on selecting universities.
