Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi has noticed that the candidates who have completed polytechnic / diploma programmes from various state board of technical education have been applied for JEE Main 2014 entrance examination.
CBSE provides a separate eligibility criteria for the B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch courses admission through JEE Main 2014.
In this connection, the AICTE has informed that students who have completed engineering/ architecture/ pharmacy diploma programme from an AICTE approved institution; with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in appropriate branch of engineering/ technology/ architecture/ pharmacy are eligible for admission to 2nd year of the 4 year degree engineering/pharmacy and 5 years architecture programme respectively through lateral entry. Such a candidate need not give any entrance examination.
The AICTE has also informed that, if a diploma level candidate wishes to be admitted to 1st year of 4 year degree engineering/pharmacy or 5 year architecture programme and if he also possesses a class 12th certificate, then he is eligible on the basis of the class 12th certificate.
Therefore, if any polytechnic/engineering diploma holder candidate has passed class 12th also from a Board between year 2012 to 2014, he/she should immediately update his/her class 12th information on the JEE website through the link "Confirmation of class 12th/Qualifying Examination Details" by selecting Board, year of passing and roll no., failing which it will be assumed that he/she is only a diploma holders and will not be treated as an eligible for admission to B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Planning as per above the guidelines of AICTE.
