DU's School of Open Learning admission to begin on June 15

DU's School of Open Learning (SOL) admissions are likely to start on June 15, 2015.

 

The SOL admissions, which were scheduled to begin from June 1 are deferred, following the delay in approval from distance education board of University Grants Commission.

According to official from SOL, the institute has approached the UGC. However, the approval in this regard is expected to receive in the next week and admissions will start from June 15.

SOL prospectus is not ready yet and a decision on issue of prospects will be finalised according to the admission process. Discussion are on whether the admissions should be done online or offline.

The proposal to make the admission process entirely online, has received criticism from the staff council.

The application forms are being issued at the campus. The total number of forms sold reached 31,722 so far, of which 5,828 applications were received on June 6 and 5,111 applications were submitted on June 5.

According to TOI, SGTB Khalsa College, the only centre in North Campus, continued to receive bulk of the aspirants with a total sale of 1,797 and submission of 1,649. While in Rajdhani College 1,352 forms were sold and 1,100 submitted. Shyam Lal College also witnessed a huge rush for forms and submissions.
