Cut-off For SC/ST Candidates Lowered at IITs, Find Out More!

One of the many significant changes brought about in the IITs is the reduction of cut-off for the aggregate marks in Class XII for SC and ST candidates. The aggregate cut-off has been reduced from 70% 65% in JEE advanced 2017.

 

Another major change is the induction of additional 10% seats for foreign nationals in all the courses across 23 IITs. Along with which the IIT JEE advanced exam and GATE exam will be held in 6 countries overseas to attract more foreign nationals to the IITs. According to the IITs officials, various features both interactive and informative have been introduced to make the process of registration, fee payment, announcement of results, choice filling of seats and other a less strenuous process.

In order make the journey of registrations to the results and counselling easier, features like short video tutorial and SMS services are being extensively used.

Cut-off For SC/ST Candidates Lowered at IITs

From the 2017 session registrations, candidates who register late for the IIT JEE advanced exam will be charged a late fee of Rs 500. Also the registration fee for girl students and reserved category candidates has been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200. For candidates from the general category and others, the registration fee has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,400. Also candidates belonging to the SAARC nations will pay $135 and those from other countries will pay $270. The late fee for foreign nationals is $80.

In another change, candidates applying under PWD category with dyslexia must submit a certificate from a doctor specialising in psychiatry and associated with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or Dyslexia Associations. The medical certificate must mention the word 'severe'.
