CSK Varsity convocation to be held after 8 years

Palampur, Sept 10: The convocation of CSK Agriculture University will be held after a gap of 8 years, the varsity said.

A total of 1,105 students from four colleges -- College of Agriculture; Dr G C Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences; College of Home Science; and College of Basic Sciences -- will be honoured for their excellence in academics.

Disclosing this, the Vice chancellor Dr K K Katoch said that due to a large number of students, it has been decided to hold separate convocations for each college starting with the College of Agriculture on September 12.

He said Himachal Agriculture minister Sujan Singh Pathania will award the degrees to around 300 students who have graduated till this year. Convocation for the veterinary graduates will be held on September 15 in which 155 students will be conferred the degree of B.Sc (Veterinary). Vice chancellor will present the degrees.

As many as 69 girl students of Home Science College would receive degrees on September 17 by Himachal Industries minister Mukesh Agnihotri while vice chancellor himself will give degrees to 220 graduates of College of Basic Sciences on September 19.

He said a separate convocation for post graduate students will be held in the near future but no date has been finalised as yet. Degrees will be awarded to students present on the convocation day or in absentia to those who are unable to attend, he added.

Commenting on a recent visit of a delegation of the varsity to Mangolia, Dr Katoch said that a team from the university of life sciences from Mangolia is expected to visit Palampur by September end and he was hopeful that students from Mangolia will be joining CSK Palampur for their post graduation studies in agriculture, veterinary and life sciences.

He said climate in cold desert areas of Himachal was almost identical to that of Mangolia and close collaboration will prove beneficial for both countries.
