The Kerala cabinet has decided to extend the revised creamy layer annual income criteria of Rs six lakh among other backward communities for getting educational benefits.
Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy pointed out that recently government had raised the income limit for determining the creamy layer among other backward classes from Rs.4.5 lakh to Rs.6 lakh a year and for eligibility for reservation and other benefits.
The same criterion will be applicable for students to receive educational benefits from now on, Chandy added.
