According to a recent research conducted about the top universities in US, it has been found that most of the Indian Computer Science professors are ex-IITians. This research was conducted across 50 top universities of the US, which included prestigious institutions like Purdue, Massachusetts, Stanford and Yale.
Most of the Indian professors were found to be from IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur. They accounted for almost 122 faculty members in the 50 universities. The highest contributor of faculty members to these institutions was Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The research also showed that most of these professors got their Bachelor's degree from IITs and further completed their doctorates in universities abroad.
"The question that this data raises is how we can create better conditions so that top professors from outside India can join our faculty," Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras said.
