Henan Province of China has shown a great interest in signing a MoU with Panjab university, Chandigarh. A Chinese delegation, headed by Deputy Director General, the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs office of Henan Provincial People's Government, Hao Lijun conveyed this piece of information.
Lijun transferred the information during his recent visit to Punjab. He was accompanied by Director, the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hebi City People's Government, Henan, Zhao Jiayu, Director, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs of Shangqiu Muncipal People's Government, Huang Xia and General Secretary of Henan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Zhao Quing Shan. These visiting Chinese delegates had a formal meeting with Panjab University's officials.
The Chinese delegation was welcomed by Registrar of Panjab University AK Bhandari. Speaking on the occasion, Hao Lijun says "this time we have come to Panjab university to look out the best suitable universities of India, with which Henan Province could have collaboration and mutual academic cooperation, including teachers and students exchange programme. We are happy to at PU, which is the best university of the country and the Henan Province would be happy to have formal understanding. After going back, I would communicate to the concerned department and the universities, so that two sides could have mutual exchanges."
He stated further "Zhengzhou University and Henan University are the two famous universities of the state. In all, there are 120 universities only in the state of Henan imparting education to 30 million students. Both the universities are open for collaboration for mutual exchange programmes."
While replying to the question of how Indian teachers will communicate with local Chinese teachers in the absence of knowledge of local language, Lijun said that they will provide translators. In any case, there are large number of Indian students in Zhengzhou University located in the capital of Henan.
