CDS EXAM (II) 2016: Apply Before August 12

The Combined Defence Services examination II held by the UPSC (CDS Exam II 2016) will be held on October 23, 2016. The official notification about the same will be released by the commission on July 16, 2016. The CDS examination conducted by the UPSC is a national level examination held for selection of candidates into the defence forces of the country. The CDS exam is a gateway for entry into the prestigious Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers' Training Academy.

According to the UPSC, the detailed official notification for the CDS EXAM (II) 2016 will be released on July 16, 2016.

Candidates who are want to be part of the armed forces of the country can check the official notification of the commission on its official website.

The CDS exam in held twice a year for recruitment of candidates for the Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers' Training Academy. CDS-I exam was held on February 14, 2016 across the country. CDS-II exam will be held on October 23, 2016.

Why is the CDS Exam (II) conducted?

The examination is conducted to give admission to aspiring candidates for the following courses:

  • Indian Military Academy, Dehradun 142th
  • Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training (201/16F/PC)
  • Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala
  • Officers Training Academy, Chennai 105th SSC (Men)
  • Officers Training Academy, Chennai, 19th SSC (Women) (Non-Technical)

Who is eligible to take up this exam?

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or should be in their final year of graduation.
  • Candidates are required to clear the SSB interview, should be medically fit and then join IMA as a direct entry subject.

CDS EXAM (II) 2016: Apply Before August 12

CDS Selection Procedure:

  • Candidates who have qualified in the CDS EXAM (II) 2016 will have undergo military training for a period of 18 months at IMA.
  • They will be enrolled under the army act as gentlemen cadets.
  • On successful completion of training, gentlemen cadets are granted permanent commission in the rank of Lieutenant subject to being medically fit in shape.
  • The final allocation of arms/services will be made prior to passing out of gentlemen cadets from IMA.
