Why are the CBSE Board exams 2018 preponed?

This has come as a precautionary measure after reports made rounds that the correction for the board exams showed carelessness with a lot of them seeing dramatically higher marks after the verification of the results.

Students and parents were miffed with the apathy showed by the examiners and had resort to file a complaint. However, the CBSE defied major flaws claiming that only 2.47 per cent of the students had applied for verification of the papers, meaning that the error did not happen with many papers.

What are the other corrective measures that the CBSE has taken against incorrect evaluation?

The CBSE has set up two committees to look into the loopholes in the evaluation method.

Why two committees to monitor CBSE evaluation process?

The first committee will enquire in to the process of evaluation and post examination processes to identify and analyse discrepancies and suggest corrective measures to strengthen the process

The second committee will "study, analyse and suggest systemic improvements in the evaluation process to make the system robust".

How many CBSE schools are there in India?

There are more than 18,000 schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Why did the CBSE Results 2017 have errors?

The board said despite best efforts made by teachers, "there may be a possibility of human error in transferring marks to the title page of the answer scripts, the summation of marks and manually posting marks in the computer system".
