CAT 2014 Exam Day 2 analysis, tricky and lengthy

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2014 Day 2 exam was held on November 22, 2014 at 307 test centres across the country. More than 1 lakh aspirants had appeared for the examination.

A total of 1.96 lakh candidates had registered for the CAT 2014 exam. The first session had started at 7.30 AM, and the second session had started on 1 PM.

According to the students, Day 2 paper was tricky and lengthy. Many test takers greeted with surprisingly easy questions in QA while DI was also not so tricky. Many aspirant were able to attempt questions between 40 to 49 in this section. The examination was held smoothly without any glitches or surprise elements being reported.

CAT 2014: Session 1 analysis:
As per the students the paper was tricky and lengthy. QA section had easy questions, and DI section was not so tricky.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation:
QA section has 34 questions, and most of these questions are from Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra, etc. There were 16 questions on DI. Overall DI section was moderate in difficulty level.

Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning:
There were 16 questions in VA and LR. There were no vocabulary, paragraph completion or fill in the blanks questions. Overall, VA was moderate, although RC was tricky. The LR questions were more of DI type. The LR section was overall complicated.

CAT 2014: Session 2 analysis:
Overall Day 2 session 2 paper was moderate.

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation:
The Quant section was easy. There were 34 questions on Quant with no surprise element. There were 16 DI questions. The four problem sets had four questions per set. The DI questions were less tricky compared to Day 1 of CAT 2014.

Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning:
This section had three questions on error correction with core grammar. There were three paragraphs with jumbled sentences. Moreover, there were three questions on "Odd one out" or Out of Context sentence. LR had 16 questions split in 4 sets. One of the sets that had four questions was very difficult. LR was time-consuming.

Overall Analysis:
Overall, CAT 2014 Day 2 was moderate in difficulty level. QA and DI being easier compared to VA and LR as expressed by majority of the students. Most of the aspirants said that the CAT 2014 paper was easier than earlier CAT exams. Aspirant think that a higher percentile cut off is going to greet the aspirants seeking admission in IIMs and other top rated B schools.

CAT 2014 results will be announced in the 3rd week of December 2014.
