British Airways To Allow Indian Students To Carry Extra Baggage

In a good news for Indian students going abroad for higher education, British Airways announced special discounts and various offers for students travelling to the U.K., the U.S., Canada and some European destinations.

 

According to an official statement issued by the airline here, under the offer, students flying with the carrier between June 1 and October 30, 2012 would be allowed to carry an extra piece of luggage, weighing up to 23 kg.

"Students travelling with British Airways this year will receive exclusive assistance to make their entire experience one of ease and comfort," British Airways Regional Commercial Manager (South Asia) Christopher Fordyce said.

The offer is valid for those holding a valid student visa to the U.K., Europe, U.S. or Canada only.

The outbound travel must be completed on or before October 30, 2012 originating in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad or Chennai, the statement said.

The offer can be availed up to 31 March next year, it said, adding, outbound travel must be completed on or before 31 March, 2016 for the British Airways flights originating in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Chennai.

Besides, the airline has also tied-up with other service providers for facilities like free talk-time, education loans and travel cards, a release said today.

Currently, the airline allows only one piece of check-in baggage weighing up to 23 kgs.

The airline is celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in June 2012. Besides functions at Windsor, and Shanghai, a Boeing-747 is will have a special emblem to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
