The Bangalore University has decided to issue multi-proof marks cards to the students, which is 'fire-proof', 'water-proof', and 'termite-proof'.
University has decided to issue these marks cards from the next academic year. They are still in talks with an IT company to provide these multi-proof marks cards.
"The move will benefit students. The new cards will have plastic, silver foil, bamboo and fire-resistant materials so that it can incorporate all features. Each card will cost Rs 15 more than what they used to earlier, as the paper itself will cost Rs 3.50. According to experts, the life of these cards is more," said R K Somashekar, registrar (evaluation).
He also said that they are also in talks with students to pay extra fee for these marks cards.
He said the marks cards would have barcode in front. This barcode would add extra security to the marks card.
"Earlier, we used to get many calls from companies verifying the authenticity of the marks cards. A couple of years ago, we introduced barcode at the back of the marks card, where it was not very noticeable. With the new marks card, we are planning to introduce the barcode in the front. So, if any company or college needs to verify the authenticity, they need to scan the barcode, then the entire history of the marks card will be available in the system. We are also planning to add more security features for these marks card", added Somashekar.
