Bangalore University is introducing e-verification method by digitising the marks cards to make it easier for the university employers and employees to check the documents of the foreign students.
Currently, the university does a manual document verification process, which takes 2 to 3 months, and candidates have to send the document to the university. The University has to keep those documents secure. To reduce the time consumed, the university has decided to introduce the new method.
The new e-verification would take around 24 hours for documents of the foreign students.
BU, Registrar (evaluation), Prof Ningegowda said, "We get requests for verification of documents/ marks cards from Gulf countries, South Africa, US and other places."
More than 50 companies in India and abroad send documents for verification and the process often takes a long time. The e-verification process would help the process easier.
As per the reports, the university receives more than 200 requests for verification process, on an average day.
The university was established in 1964, it has digitised the marks from 2002. The target is to do it from 1964, for more than 50 lakh students.
Meanwhile, there are allegations against the university officials about verification process. The students claim that the officials are intentionally making process very slow so that they can ask money from the candidates.
Gowda said, "Yes, there are some allegations. However, e-verification will ensure the elimination of these illegal activities."
Even the candidates who have lost their marks cards can also apply for a new one with this e-verification.
If any of the candidates forgets their registration number, they can also obtain the documents by providing the name, course, year of passing, college name and address.
