Azim Premji University to start B.A, B.Sc courses

October, 2014, Bangalore: Azim Premji University announces the launch of its undergraduate programme commencing July, 2015. This programme will be offered at their campus in Bangalore and will be a full-time, three-year, residential programme leading to a degree in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Specializations offered will be in the Humanities (combined History, Literature and Philosophy), Sciences (Physics, Biology) and Social Sciences (Economics, Politics). Students will also have the opportunity to take up research and projects to obtain an honours degree.

Anurag Behar, Vice Chancellor, Azim Premji University says, "Higher Education must prepare young adults with expertise in their fields of interest, ability to deal with challenges of life and contribute to society. Azim Premji University's undergraduate programme is an attempt in that direction"

The University is committed to an education that develops reflective engagement with personal, social and global issues. The curriculum aims to prepare students to be active learners capable of critical thinking and analysis. All students will study courses in the "Common Curriculum" that build core competences in communication and reasoning, help engage with issues and aspects of Indian society and participate in creative aesthetic pursuits. Specialization in disciplines is designed to encourage exploration and help students build deep understanding of concepts and applications.

The programme brings together competent and experienced faculty and mentors to create a vibrant learning community that is inclusive, rewarding and enjoyable. The University has an explicit commitment to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds and provides extensive financial assistance to deserving students to pursue their education.

Applications will open in November, 2014.
