Annual award for maximum innovation in the field of education: HRD

In a bid to boost innovation in the field of education, Human Resources Development (HRD) minister, Smriti Irani has suggested annual award for the entire team of officers in the district. The award will be presented to those officers in the districts where maximum innovation happens in field of education.

Speaking at presentation ceremony 'National Awards for Innovation in Educational Administration', Irani said that for the entire team of a district, where there is remarkable innovation in education , there should be an award with cash component of Rs 10 lakh for all officers beginning from district to block level.

Addressing the award winners, Irani said that while the primary motivation of those who work in this sector is not money, but an award may become a source of inspiration for others also. Irani asked officials of the National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) to work out the details in this regard.

At the event, Irani presented awards to over 60 winners. Giving details, NUEPA Vice Chancellor J B G Tilak said that 124 nominations had been received from 21 states of which 63 were chosen. In her speech, Irani also asked those in the education field to share success stories on social media. She said the government had managed to create toilets for girl students in government schools across the country in just one year.

The magnitude of that success is often not reflected in public discourse, she said. She said the teachers who won an award for their innovations were the ones, who worked on the ground and faced challenges.
