Andhra University (AU) conducted its 80th and 81st convocation in Visakhapatnam in the Convocation Hall in its campus on Monday afternoon.
E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor and Chancellor of the university could not attend the convocation due to present situation in Hyderabad. The university authorities confirmed this on Sunday.
Around 746 scholars were awarded their Ph.D. degrees during the event. 61 students received M.Phil. degree. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman of Board of Governors of IIT-Madras addressed the gathering. An honorary degree was conferred by AU to him.
Arrangements were inspected by Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju along with Registrar K. Rama Mohana Rao, Rector E.A. Narayana, principals of campus colleges and other officials.
Prof. Rama Mohana Rao informed, that the number of invitations for guests was limited this year due to the fact that a huge number of candidates were awarded their Ph.D. and M.Phil. degrees as this Convocation was a combined one.
