Andhra Pradesh government has decided to send around 1,000 Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students to abroad for studies.
These students would be sent under the 'Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi' scheme to identify SC and ST students.
AP Social Welfare Minister, Ravela Kishore Babu said that the government will liberalise the rules and under the scheme, the selected students will be sent overseas for studies.
He said that, currently we are sending only postgraduate (PG) students abroad. We are planning to send undergraduate (UG) and diploma students in the future. Government will identify the 1,000 SC and ST students to be sent abroad for studies.
Government will give Rs 10 lakh per students per year. He also said that government is planning to increasing the amount.
