Aligarh (UP), March 5: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been accredited Grade A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Expressing happiness over the achievement, AMU's Vice Chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) Zameer Uddin Shah said it was a tribute to the entire university community including students, faculty members and the non-teaching staff.
Last month, a NAAC team had visited AMU for four days for carrying out a comprehensive assessment of the university's performance in different spheres of activity.
The assessment report of NAAC was released yesterday following the deliberations of its standing committee, a release issued here by AMU said today.
In the release, Shah said all efforts would be made now for garnering a top position for the university when the institution goes for second cycle assessment.
NAAC is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country.
