The controversy between UGC and Delhi University is not over yet. Students are getting confused over admissions, since they do not know when this issue will be solved. Some of them are in favor of FYUP and some of them are against it.
More than 2.7 lakh aspirants have been applied for admission in colleges affiliated to DU. Only 50,000 seats are available for admission in these colleges.
According to UGC, 57 out of 64 colleges have agreed to start admissions, but they are awaiting for permission from the DU.
Meanwhile, admission to engineering, architecture, medical and dental courses are going smoothly by the state / central boards.
But the problem is for the students who aspire to apply for bachelor's degree in Arts, Commerce and Science disciplines.
Students have to get admission into any of the colleges. But, none of the colleges are in a position to start the admission process. Most of the universities and colleges across the country, have already begun / finished the admission procedure for the year 2014.
Most of the colleges located in Delhi are affiliated to Delhi University.
Delhi state has 4 central universities, 5 state universities and 11 deemed universities.
Students are advised to apply in any of these universities to get admission. Otherwise they may lose one academic year. Fees in these colleges / universities are more when compared with the DU colleges.
If any of the candidates want to obtain admission in Bachelor's degree in Arts, Commerce and Science discipline, they are advised to apply in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Jamia Hamdard University, Guru Gobind Signh Indraprastha University and Indira Gandhi National Open University.
Some of the colleges may have some seats for the students, who belong to the other states. They can apply under other state quota seats.
Students are advised to search for the colleges, which are offering admissions around Delhi or outside the Delhi area to get admission.
