Staffordshire Univ offers BSc Computer Games Design & Programming

USPs of the course: Recently ranked at number one position as best game design course in UK by a leading industry publication, Computer Games Design and Programming BSc (Hons) programme is taught at the School of Art and Design of the UK-based Staffordshire University. Accredited by Trade and Industry Games Association (TIGA), one of the UK's main gaming authorities, the unique degree course offers students grounding across different gaming disciplines unlike many other universities.

The BSc (Hons) programme aims at producing graduates with strong games production skills and an understanding of both games design and games programming. It focuses on developing the students' skills in understanding the complexities and utilizing leading industry games engines. The games engine is the cornerstone of game play, but this course goes deeper, first into the design and 3D asset creation then into the C++ and C# programming elements. In other words, the course brings together three core areas of games development - the design side, engine development and the modeling side of the process.

State-of-the-art technology and tools such as Blackboard VLE, Forums and Virtual Project Rooms and resources like online video tutorials and learning material are used for effective student learning, enabling them in creating designs for computer games, 3D models and animations. Moreover, the Epic Games Centre at Staffordshire University offers students, enrolled under the Games Design courses, a fully equipped space designed to nurture their talent. Also, four times in a year, games companies come to the University for development days and training. This gives students an opportunity to mingle and socialize with professionals and representatives from these companies to build contacts for their future career.

Course Duration: 3 Years

Career Prospects for Course Graduates: The graduates will be able to compete for jobs in the areas like Games Technical Design; Level, Quest and Mission Design; Games Production and Publishing or they can even start their own games company.

Eligibility Criteria: A typical 280 UCAS points with a minimum of 240 points from 3X6 units and 40 from either key skills or AS levels and English language requirements include an IELTS score of 6.0. BTEC: DMM.

Commencing From: September 2016

Course Fee: £10,600 per year

Scholarships: New Merit Scholarship of £1,000 is available to Indian students enrolling for the first time in September 2016 and also, New Undergraduate Progression Scholarships of up to £2,000 will be awarded on an annual basis dependent on performance across the full academic year.
