IIT Ropar invites applications for its Ph.D programme

IIT Ropar invites applications for its Doctorate in Philosophy programme for the academic year 2014-15. Applicants can apply online by logging on to the official website of IIT Ropar.

Programmes offered:

• Computer Science and Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• School of Mechanicals, Materials and Energy Engineering

Eligibility:

Computer Science and Engineering:

M.Tech/ ME/ MS or equivalent qualification in computer science and engineering or equivalent degree with 60% marks (or 6.5 grade point out of 10) (55% marks for SC/ST). However, exceptional candidates having B.Tech/ BE qualification with valid GATE score can apply for direct admission to Ph.D programme.

A candidate with a bachelor's degree from any IIT and having a CGPA/ CPI score of 8.00 (out of 10.0) and above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification.

Areas of Research: Multi-disciplinary research in Computer systems and theory.

Electrical Engineering:

First class (or 6.5 grade point out of 10) or 60% marks in M.Tech/ ME/ MS in electrical engineering or equivalent degree.

Areas of Research: Power generation with renewable sources; Power System Stability, Power System Optimisation, Synchrophasor Technology and its application to smart grids, Plugged-in-Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Dielectrics and High Voltage Engineering, Nano technology and Nano electronics.

School of Mechanical, Materials and Energy Engineering:

1. Master's degree in Engineering/ Technology or a Master's degree by Research in Engineering/ Technology. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks (or 6.5 Grade Point out of 10) in their Master's.

or

2. Master's degree in sciences with a valid score in GATE/ UGC/ CSIR/ NET/ NBHM or equivalent qualification. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks (or 6.5 Grade Point out of 10) in their Master's.

or

3. Exceptional candidates having B.Tech/ BE qualification with valid GATE score can apply for direct admission to Ph.D programme.

A candidate with a Bachelor's degree from any IIT and having a CGPA/ CPI score of 8.00 (out of 10.0) and above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification to apply.

Areas of Research: Bio-Mechanical (BM), Design & Analysis (DA), Manufacturing & Materials (MM), Thermo-Fluid (TF).
