The Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat has announced a Faculty Development Programme by ISTE-PSU on "Mathematical Modelling in Science and Engineering" which is scheduled to be held between 23rd -27th June-2014.
This would be an interdisciplinary programme which will bring together the faculties from engineering disciplines, Industries, faculties from Science colleges & Universities. This will be greatly benefited in providing conceptual understanding, computational & procedural fluency and problem solving skills.
Course outline would consist of the following:
a. Mathematical Modelling & discussion of specific models of Real World Problems
b. Industrial Mathematics and Discrete Mathematics
c. Spatial discretisation schemes based on advanced finite element, finite volume, and finite difference methods
d. Computational / Numerical Method
Eligibility: It is open to engineering college teachers (both degree and polytechnic colleges)from AICTE approved institutions, PhD Students. As the training programme is of interdisciplinary nature, teachers of any Engineering disciplines and Applied Sciences can attend the programme. The participants must be a Life Member of ISTE. Those who are not members of ISTE, can register their membership form with Life Membership fees at the time of registration.
Registration Fee: (i)Rs.1500.00 for academicians from different institutions and Ph.D students.
(ii)Rs.4000.00 for participants from industry.
The non-refundable registration fees should be sent in the form of a DD in favour of Director, SVNIT, Surat payable at Surat.
Only 40 participants will be selected for the programme.Selection will be based on first-come, first-served basis. Selected participants are eligible for free boarding (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc.) and lodging in the institute's hostels only for outside participants. However, the candidates have to bear their own travelling expenses.
Last date of registration: Hard copy of the registration form along with the DD should reach the Coordinator on or before 15-06-2014.
