Around 52% of first semester students of the Gujarat University failed in their semester examination which was held in November 2013.

Recently, the University declared their semester examination results and found that only 48% of students passed the examination.

Around 34,000 students had appeared for their first semester examination in November 2013.

According to the university officials, this has never happened before. They stated that, the students who failed in the semester exams, would be allowed to continue to the second semester. But they will get the degree only after passing all the papers.

Explaining about the failure of the large number of candidates, the officials said that they couldn't complete the syllabus of the semester system.

Hence, the students who had just started their course had failed to cope up with the pressure.

According to the reports, first semester started in July and examinations began in November.

Students had got only three months to study and that is why more number of students failed in the semester examinations.
