4 Educational Institutes of India Make It To The Top 50 List

4 universities of India have found their spot among the global top 50 list in at least one of the 30 disciplines considered by the QS World University Rankings by Subject. This was published in http://www.topuniversities.com/ on Tuesday, after the global release event which was organised by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore.

India's highest position was taken by IIT Delhi, ranking 42nd in Electrical Engineering. IIT Bombay (49th rank in Electrical Engineering, 50th rank in Civil Engineering); IIT Madras (49th rank in Civil Engineering) and the Indian Institute of Science (46th rank in Materials Science), are the other institutions that made it to the top 50 ranking list.

The subjects with the highest number of Indian universities in the global top 200 which come under the STEM range of disciplines are:

• Mechanical Engineering (8 universities in the top 200)
• Electrical Engineering (7)
• Civil Engineering (7)
• Chemical Engineering (7)
• Computer Science (6)
• Mathematics (6)
• Materials science (6)

Indian universities were missing in other areas like arts, humanities and social sciences, with an exception of IIT Bombay, which was the only institution of India to appear in the top 200 in any of the five arts and humanities disciplines. IIT Bombay's ranking was in the 151-200 grouping for linguistics.
