The last day for the submission of application for the JEE Advanced 2014 was 9th May 2014.
According to an IIT official, around 26,000 students who have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2014 exam, opted out of the test.
Only the top 1.5 lakh students from JEE Main 2014 are eligible to take JEE Advanced 2014 exam.
These students do not want to take the JEE Advanced exam, as they amy be aspiring to get seats in National Institutes of Technology (NITs) instead of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

JEE Advanced 2014 is the qualifying entrance exam for 16 IITs and ISM Dhanbad.
In 2013, 24,000 students opted out of the JEE Advanced 2013 exam.
Around 10,000 engineering seats are available for admissions in 16 IITs and ISM Dhanbad.
A total of 15,000 engineering seats are available for 30 NITs and 4 IIITs. More than 500 engineering colleges across India accept JEE Main 2014 scores for their admissions.
