Instead of getting glued to the basics of physical education like PT (Physical Training) and other athletic exercises, schools are ready to break the shackles and pull in experts of the field to train their students.
Several schools of Tamil Nadu have decided to hire experts from the field to train their kids. That is why many schools are outsourcing their physical education classes to gym experts and professional sports companies, so that their students can get the real taste of physical education.
A company named, Maverick Fitness Studio in Chennai, a month ago, started its Fit Kids programmes with trainers in schools to teach children the benefits of exercise and nutrition, with this, the company exposed the students to a professional environment of physical education, and students on the other hand enjoyed every bit that they learned during the programme.
"We did research on what happen during the Physical Education (PE) periods in the most schools. We found that children who are inclined to sports, play. The rest sit and chat. We can can teach children interesting ways to keep fit, which don't necessarily involve playing a sport," says Gita Krishanraj, CEO at Maverick.
The man, who is in this school physical education business from past one year, Ajit Shetty of Score Fitness Club says "As fitness trainers, we understand how the body works. So we train children progressively. In the lower classes, we only focus on hand-eye coordination and flexibility. We move on to sports and games only from class 4th because by then the body has reached a certain level of fitness."
