Senior IAS officer Gupta appointed as Secretary, UPSC

UPSC appoints senior IAS offficer as new Secretary
Senior IAS officer Devendra Bhushan Gupta has been appointed as Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Gupta is a 1983 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre.

The government has cancelled appointment of Dr Amarjit Singh, who was appointed Secretary in UPSC in April this year, said a release issued today by Ministry of Personnel.

Singh is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre.

The release did not give any reason behind cancellation of Singh's order.

Gupta, who is presently serving in his cadre, will be mandated with responsibilities of administrative matters of the UPSC which conducts prestigious civil services examination to select IAS, IPS and IFS among others.
