It's good news for the students studying in Engineering colleges across India.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, gives green signal to wear dresses as per students' likes, and gives permission to use mobile phones in Engineering colleges across country.
"We are only proposing to introduce self-defence training for girl students studying in engineering and technical institutions in the country. The council will soon take a final decision to introduce this training programme," AICTE chief S S Mantha said.
After so many agitations from the students across the country, AICTE has taken the decision.
According to the media reports, AICTE was planning to enforce curbs of usage of mobile phones in college campus, introduce strict dress code.
AICTE also directed the Engineering colleges to install CCTV cameras in common areas to ensure safety for female students.
S S Mantha said, "Already some educational institutions in the country on their own have installed cameras in common areas."
Some of the Engineering colleges in the country are following the strict rules in dress code and banned usage of mobile phones.
Some of the Engineering colleges have not taken any action to stop the usage of mobiles and dress code.
It has been noticed that Anna University has introduced the dress code for students and banned the usage of mobile phones in the university premises. It was introduced by former VC D Viswanathan.
