UGC establishes Studies Centres at various Universities / Colleges

University of Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, has established the Studies Centres in the XII plan (2013-14 to 2016-17) at various Universities / Colleges under the scheme ‘Epoch Making Social Thinkers of India'.

In the beginning of the XII plan, It was decided to review the centers to decide their continuity in the XII plan.

It was also decided to call for the work-plan of proposed activities of the centers (upto 2 study centers only).

Accordingly, all the respective Universities / Colleges were requested to send the work-plan of proposed activities of upto 2 centers scheduled to be undertaken during XII plan (2013-14 to 2016- 17).

A notice in this regard was also uploaded on the UGC website.

Work lans of 211 studies centers were received from the Universities / Colleges, which were placed before the expert committees for consideration along with the status of these centers i.e settlement of XI plan accounts and report of activities undertaken by these centers during XI plan.

The Committees recommended 193 studies centers for continuation in the XII plan w.e.f 2013-2014. 18 centers have not been recommended for continuation.

Approval letters for continuation of 189 centers were sent to respective Universities / Colleges on 11-09-2013.
