Department of Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai, has published a notification on conducting the MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2014 for MBA, MMS in its website.
The Maharashtra state government has decided to conduct own Common Entrance Test (CET) for MBA and MMS courses admissions across the state from next academic year 2014-15.
In 2013, state has accepted the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) score for admissions to these courses, which is conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
Supreme Court has given order to all the state governments to conduct their own entrance exam to provide admissions to these courses.
On the move of SC, state will revert back to their earlier system of conducting the examination.
The decision has been taken after Maharashtra saw a 50% drop in the number of MBA aspirants this year.
Earlier, state had to fill the government seats using CET scores. From next academic year state will fill 65% of MBA, MMS seats through MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2014 scores.
"The entire process for CMAT is done online. Students in rural areas are hesitant about the online process and exams. There has been a dip in the number of applicants this year and therefore, the number of vacancies in colleges has risen," said a director of a management college.
