The Centre of Gandhian Studies at Bangalore University is receiving more applications for admission in this academic year 2013-14.
According to the sources, more number of students showing interest towards PG Diploma in Gandhian Studies.
The university had received more than 36 applications for 21 seats.
"We admit 21 students for this course every year. For the last two years, we are getting more applications. We had received more than 35 applications last year also," the centre's head Jeevan Kumar told to media.
Surprisingly, more professionals are coming forward to take up the course, Kumar said.
"This year, we have software professionals and bank employees. Last year, we had two doctors. The demand is increasing every year," he added.
In 2007, university has started the course in Centre for Gandhian Studies. The duration of the course is 10 months and fee is Rs 550/-.
There are three papers: Life and Times of Gandhi, Social Moral and Education Philosophy of Gandhi and Political and Relegious Philosophy of Gandhi.
However, studying the course will not provide any job opportunities, but people are going just to know about Gandhi's life, Kumar observed.
‘Happy that I Have Got the Seat'
"I wanted to study Gandhiji for a long time. Recently, I got to know about the Bangalore University's P G Diploma course and I am happy that I have got the seat," a corporate professional who has joined the course said.
As part of the course, students will get a chance to interact with freedom fighters like H S Doreswamy and Ho Srinivasaiah, Kumar said.
