IIT-BHU placed All-India 2nd rank in Google Online Marketing Challenge

A team of students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) secured an All-India second rank (AIR) in the Google Online Marketing Challenge-2013.

The team bagged 4th position in Asia and Pacific region and secured 22nd position at world level.

Prof PK Mishra of department of chemical engineering was the teacher incharge of the team. According to Mishra, the team comprised of Pusphendra Dwivedi, captain of the team, K Vishal Kumar, Divya Bhargavi, Prateek Hundekar and Santosh Iniyavan from IIT-BHU.

Google Online Marketing Challenge was organised by Google. The IIT-BHU team were the regional Adword finalists in Asia and Pacific region. More than 2,200 teams comprising of 12,000 students from 80 countries participated in this competition this year.

Google Online Marketing Challenge:
The Google Online Marketing Challenge is an exciting opportunity for students to experience and create online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Google+.

Over 50,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated in the challenge.

The challenge is open to student teams of three to six members, regardless of their majors.

Global Winner:
The Global Winning team comes from the University of the Philippines in the Philippines, under Professor James Ryan Jonas.

Regional Winner:
The Asia Pacific Winner comes from Asian Institute of Management, under Professor David Gulliver Go in the Philippines.

The Americas Winner comes from the University of Houston in Texas, under Professor Steven Koch.

The Europe Winner comes from the Turku School of Economics in Finland, under Professor Joni Salminen.

The Middle East/Africa winner comes from the Mansoura University in Egypt, under Professor Heba Mahmoud Elsabaa.
