Another round of Counselling for MBBS
Karnataka: The State Government has come across a decision to hold another round of counselling, to fill the leftover MBBS seats. It has come to notice that about 93 MBBS seats are still vacant.

Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister of State for Medical Education, on Sunday, reported that another round of counselling would be held from September 17th to 19th. The final list of selected students will be announced on 20th September.

He further said, "The decision to hold another round of counselling was taken to ensure meritorious students get government seats. The selected students should seek admissions before 24th of September, 2013. If the seats still remain vacant, then another round of counselling shall be announced before the end of September."

According to the directions of Supreme court, 30th September is the last date for admissions into MBBS course. In case, the seats remain vacant after the due date, then the department would seek the opinion of the Legal Department in order to hold another round of counselling, he added.

Also, the department had written to private medical colleges and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to take steps to provide seats under the government quota for meritorious students.

Moreover, he said all issues pertaining to fees and admissions to Medical, Dental and Engineering courses would be resolved next year, as the government had decided to implement the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2006 from 2014-15.
