Kerala govt appoints non-teaching staff
Kerala government today decided to hand over the appointments of non-teaching staff in the Universities in the state to Public Service Commission.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting and the Law Department has been asked to preare a Draft Bill to effect the same, State Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters during cabinet briefing here.

Existing system of appointment by respective Universities would continue till the new legislation in this regard was passed by the assembly, Chandy said.

The Government as a policy decision has asked the PSC to fix the period of PSC rank list either to four and half year or till a fresh rank list comes into force, Chandy said.

Now the life of rank list is three years and it get cancelled after this period.

Government also requested the PSC to extend the exisitng rank lists for further period as it expires this month, he said.

Government view was that rank list should not get cancelled without a new rank list, he said, adding, "which means always ther shall be a live rank list".
